Are you interested in serving a term as a member of the Executive Cabinet of ASNCU? Well, now’s your chance to run for office. Positions up for vote are Student Body President, VP of Academics, VP of Activities, and VP of Environment. Declarations are due on Friday the 14th at 5 pm. Please note: declarations are online this year, so click here to get started or for more detailed information about each position. Once you’ve filled that out, you’ll need to come to the declaration meeting at 6 pm on the 14th to get information on campaigning. In order to be on the ballot, you must attend this meeting and have completed a full year at NCU. Exec Cab elections will be held on March 19th. And now for a quick description of each position.
- President: The President serves the Student Body as the executive authority of all ASNCU activity and as the representative and liaison between Senate and the campus administration, faculty, and staff. The President is responsible for the execution of all ASNCU activity. S/he is responsible for coordinating events within ASNCU, developing and implementing goals and objectives, and ensuring the enactment of Senate legislation. S/he is responsible to the Student Body through Senate. Presidential tasks include officiating senate and a weekly meeting with the VPs, meeting regularly with President Womack, attending faculty meetings, and communicating with the members of the college’s administration, faculty, and staff when necessary. In order to run for President, a student must have junior or senior standing.
- Vice President of Academics: The Executive Vice President of Academics assists the President and Senate in representing Student Body concerns and interests in matters concerning NCU’s academic policies. S/he serves on designated faculty committees and is responsible for heading the Senate Academic Committee. The committee addresses issues related to curriculum, learning resources, faculty issues, and educational policies.
- Vice President of Activities: The Executive Vice President of Activities assists the President and Senate in representing Student Body concerns and interests in matters concerning NCU’s activities. S/he serves as a member of designated Student Development groups and is responsible for heading the Senate Activities Committee. The committee plans events related to NCU events, hosting events/speakers, NCU community building, and broader community involvement, awareness, and service.
- Vice President of Campus Environment: The Executive Vice President of Campus Environment assists the President and Senate in representing Student Body concerns and interests in matters concerning NCU’s campus environment. S/he serves as a member of designated campus committees and is responsible for heading the Senate Campus Environment Committee. The committee addresses issues related to campus improvements, diversity, residence life, and food services.
All members of the Exec Cab serve seven office hours each week, and must maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher while in office. Each member is paid a stipend for the year.
